Intentionally or unintentionally we see and use uncountable objects in our immediate surroundings without realizing what they symbolize or how they can be interpreted. For instance, a gate and a lotus signify many other things than just a flower and a point of entry.

Gate

The India Gate (formerly known as the All India War Memorial) is a war memorial located astride the Rajpath, on the eastern edge of the “ceremonial axis” of New Delhi, formerly called Kingsway.

The Gateway of India is an arch-monument built in the early twentieth century in the city of Mumbai, in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It was erected to commemorate the landing in December 1911 at Apollo Bunder, Mumbai (then Bombay) of King-Emperor George V and Queen-Empress Mary, the first British monarch to visit India.

Heavy iron/wood gates like this with spikes were used in forts.

Gates like these are nowadays seen at every house in our neighborhood.

Lotus

Lakshmi , also known as Sri, is one of the principal goddesses in Hinduism. She is the goddess of wealth, fortune, love, beauty, joy and prosperity, and associated with Maya. The lotus flower symbolizes fertility and life in how it is rooted into primordial waters

Lotus is election symbol of one of the major political parties in India, BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party).

The Lotus Temple located at Lotus Temple Rd, Bahapur, Shambhu Dayal Bagh, Kalkaji, New Delhi, Delhi 110019. Is notable for its flowerlike shape, it has become a prominent attraction in the city. Like all Baháʼí Houses of Worship, the Lotus Temple is open to all, regardless of religion or any other qualification.

Lotus is a flower that grows in a swamp. This symbolizes beautiful things rise from dirt.

Lotus (Nelumbo Nucifera Gaertn) is the National Flower of India. It is a sacred flower and occupies a unique position in the art and mythology of ancient India and has been an auspicious symbol of Indian culture since time immemorial.
